Overview:
The Palace on Wheels presents an opportunity to discover some of India’s most breathtaking sights in a royal style. This grand ride will take you through Rajasthan which is known as the land of the Rajputs and boasts of a glorious past and a rich heritage. Step aboard this imperial journey which will take you into the past through marvelous monuments, towns, forts, palaces and havelis. Experience the jungles of the erstwhile Maharajas and enchantment of the deserts which will make you feel like royalty. The train is a blend of the traditional and modern. The art décor expresses the sovereign past of the royal state whereas the ultra-modern amenities are marked by contemporary affluence and zeal. Engraved furniture, impressive paintings and classy handicrafts take you to the awe-inspiring past of the land of the Kings. The Palace on Wheels comprises of 14 charmingly appointed coaches with rich furnishings and modern facilities. 

The train travels mostly during the day while nights are spent at calm sidings.

Accommodation

The train has 14 air-conditioned carriages, each with 4 compartments with two lower beds and all 14 salons are named after the regions of Rajasthan such as Alwar, Bharatpur, Bundi, Chittorgarh, Jaipur, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur, and Udaipur etc. Each of the coaches has been done up in an amazingly sumptuous style encompassing miniature paintings, mirror work, furnishings, and upholstery. Each compartment also has Channel Music system, a Mini Pantry, attached bathrooms and a personal attendant called a ‘Khidmatgar’. Curtains and bedspreads in the cabins are made of silk. Each sleeping car has a lounge at one end. 

Dining 

Palace on Wheels has two restaurants, suitably named Maharaja and Maharani, with elegant décor and each serving both Continental and Indian cuisine. Apart from the table d’hôte meals, the guests can also indulge themselves in a diverse assortment of a la carte menu. The in house bar with its authentic ambiance and selection of alcoholic and non- alcoholic beverages is a part of the on-board experience. The train also has a lounge to loosen up and chill out after a long day of sightseeing.

Day to Day Itinerary:

Day 1 - Delhi

Gather at Safdarjung Railway Station by 1600hrs for a conventional welcome and prepare yourselves for an extravagant Palace on Wheels journey across "the Land of Maharajas" Rajasthan. The train departs at 1830hrs.

Day 2 - Jaipur

You will arrive at the first destination, Jaipur, early morning. After breakfast onboard the train, you will be taken around Jaipur city and to the most key locations housed here including the City Palace Complex, and the famous Hawa Mahal. Post lunch experience the grandeur of the Amer Fort (lunch to be served in the fort) and shop in the local markets of Jaipur.

Return to the Palace on Wheels by 18:00 hours for tea and have some time at leisure. Depart for a splendid dinner experience awaiting you at the Jai Mahal Palace, Jaipur and after dinner depart for the next location - Sawai Madhopur.

Day 3 - Sawai Madhopur - Chittorgarh

Day 3 will be remarkably adventurous for you as on this day you will have a rendezvous with the majestic wild animals of the Ranthambore National Park! The lush greenery, the flora, and the fauna will contribute towards creating in your mind, unforgettable memories. Capture imagery of tigers in their most natural habitat and in great participation as well. Enjoy a lavish breakfast in the jungle lodge and later return to the Palace on Wheels to continue your holiday to the next destination, Chittorgarh.

Post lunch on the luxury train, you will go on a trip to discover the beauty of the former fortress town of Chittorgarh. Evening tea and a fabulous light and sound show awaits to entertain you in the fort environs.

Take pleasure in a rich dinner experience and come back to the train for an overnight stay.

Day 4 - Udaipur

You will arrive in Udaipur by 08:00 hours on the 4th day of the Palace on Wheels journey. Known as the city of lakes, Udaipur was established by Maharana Udai Singh in the 15th century and today is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. Visit the city attractions like Jag Mandir, Jag Niwas - Lake Palace, and the Jagdish temple etc. Relish a sumptuous lunch in a heritage hotel and visit the City Palace complex.

Before commencing your voyage to Jaisalmer, do make sure that you visit the wonderful Crystal Gallery and a take boat ride on the lake Pichola as well! Dinner and overnight stay onboard the train.

Day 5 - Jaisalmer

The train will take you to the city of Jaisalmer in the morning of the 5th day of journey. Post breakfast you can start your voyage across the city and visit the stunningly beautiful havelis and mansions including the Patwon ki Haveli, the Nathmalji ki Haveli, and Salim Singh ki Haveli. You can also visit the local markets for their widespread menu of local handicraft products!

Enjoy a mouth-watering lunch in the Hotel Moomal and then depart for sightseeing across the Sam sand dunes. The camel ride and the astounding views of the sunset will make your day truly memorable. Dinner and a cultural gala will surprise you in the sand dunes of Jaisalmer.Return to the train for overnight stay and travel down to Jodhpur.

Day 6 - Jodhpur

The train will make its way through, to the next destination in line, Jodhpur. Jodhpur is famous for housing a number of regal monuments in its bosom including the Mehrangarh fort, the Jaswant Thada, and the Umaid Bhawan Palace. You will get a chance to visit several other places on the 6th day of the Palace on Wheels itinerary.

Lunch will be organized for you in a palace hotel to make your sojourn, all the more royal. Later, splurge on handicraft items such as embroidered shoes, silverware and tie and dye fabrics across the markets of Jodhpur city. Dinner and overnight stay aboard the train.

Day 7 - Bharatpur/Agra

The train arrives at Bharatpur by 05:00 hours. Bharatpur is mostly knwon for housing the Keoladeo Ghana Bird Sanctuary and National Park. The large numbers of migratory bird species that flock to this place every year, make the wildlife environment of Bharatpur all the more extraordinary. A trip across the jungles will take almost 3 hours; therefore it will already be 0900 hours by the time you will depart for the next destination - Agra.

Agra is mostly visited for Taj Mahal - one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Exemplifying the love of Emperor Shah Jahan for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, the Taj Mahal is visited by all guests visiting India.

After you have traveled around the Agra monuments and the markets (mostly visited for its marble souvenirs, jewelry and leather goods), take pleasure in a specially organized light and sound show before you halt for dinner in a city hotel. Later, you will embark on the luxury train to move back to Delhi, to conclude this luxurious trip. Overnight stay aboard the Palace on Wheels train.

Day 8 - Delhi(Return)

Early morning on the 8th day of the journey, the train will reach Safdarjung Railway Station, marking the end of the Palace on wheels trip.

Tariff is inclusive of cost of travel and accommodation, catering (morning tea, breakfast, lunch, evening tea and dinner), conducted sightseeing tours in deluxe coaches, entrance fee for monuments and palaces and cultural entertainment.

  • 20% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking.
  • Remaining 80% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure of the tour.

b) In case of Group and Charter:-

  • 50% of ticket value at the time of confirming the booking.
  • Remaining 50% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure of the tour.



Cancellation Policy:
a) In case of FITs:-

  • 5% of ticket value 60 days prior to departure.
  • 20% of ticket value between 45 to 59 days prior to departure.
  • 50% of ticket value between 30 to 44 days prior to departure. 
  • 100% of ticket value less than 30 days prior to departure.

b) In case of Group and Charter:-

  • 20% of ticket value 89 days prior to departure.
  • 50% of ticket value between 88 to 31 days prior to departure.
  • 100% of ticket value 30 days prior to departure. 


No show/ En route termination of tour/amendment:

  • No Show - In case of No Show / Non-arrival of the guest, no refund or adjustment in future travel will be possible. The whole amount shall be treated as forfeited.
  • En route termination of tour - In case of termination of tour by the guest, for any reasons, no refund or adjustment for future travel will be possible. The amount for unused portion of the tour shall be treated as forfeited.
  • Amendment - Is only possible under the circumstances like Natural Disaster / Natural Calamity or Serious Health Problem's (this needs to be supported by doctor's certificate) and is subject to availability.
