Tickets for AVE trains can be part of a Europe Rail Pass or individual tickets for sectors can be purchased. Advance reservations are mandatory on AVE trains. It is possible for 2nd class Pass holders to travel in 'Preferente', when they pay the reservation and the difference of the fare between 'Preferente' and 'Turista'
