Day 1: Departure from Ueno — Nikko
The journey begins at Ueno Station, where staff bid you farewell as the train departs mid-morning. Onboard, enjoy a beautifully presented Shokado-style bento lunch, featuring seasonal Japanese delicacies crafted with finesse by the culinary team of Daimon Kurogi. In the afternoon, the train pulls into Nikko Station, where a private charter bus awaits to take you to the serene Shin-Yu Tan-Bo and Nikkozan Tosho-gu, a UNESCO World Heritage shrine. Guests receive exclusive access to areas not typically open to the public, immersing them in the ornate artistry of this sacred site.
Day 2: Southern Hokkaido Exploration
The journey follows the classic route for Spring–Autumn circuits: eastward into Southern Hokkaido, with scheduled exploration of Hakodate, Noboribetsu, and coastal landscapes, as the train gradually makes its way north.
Day 3: Aomori — The Jomon Experience
In the afternoon, the train arrives at Aomori Station, where you transfer by chartered bus to the Shin-Yu Tan-Bo Jomon Trip site. There, you explore the ancient Sannai Maruyama archaeological site—a rare opportunity to walk among restored dwellings and learn about Jomon-period life, tools, and artistry. This immersive, expert-guided experience is exclusive to Shiki-Shima guests. Dinner follows at the Los Cuatro Gatos restaurant inside the Aomori Museum of Art, where Chef Masanori Kawaguchi serves elegant French cuisine made with Aomori’s seasonal bounty—from scallops and apples to mountain vegetables—set among Chagall’s stage backdrops and Nara’s iconic sculptures.
Day 4: Return to Ueno via Tohoku Coast
On the final day, the train journeys south through Tohoku’s coast and landscapes toward Ueno. Along the way, the onboard dining team serves farewell meals, concluding the journey with refined cuisine—honoring regional ingredients and craftsmanship experienced throughout the trip.
