Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1: Calgary
Private transfer from Calgary airport to five-star Fairmont Palliser Hotel. Check in to your Gold Level room and overnight.
 
Day 2: Depart Calgary.
The excitement begins in the morning when you board the gleaming Royal Canadian Pacific and head to Fort MacLeod. Visit the moving Head-Smashed-In-Buffalo Jump UNESCO World Heritage Site. Cocktail reception and dinner on board as you head to the mountains.
 
Day 3: Waterton-Glacier
Visit Waterton-Glacier International Peace Park to enjoy park’s rare wildflowers, unusual geology and dazzling beauty, also a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Then take a roundtrip cruise on Waterton Lakes from Waterton, Canada to Goat Haunt, Montana. Return to train for trip to Crowsnest Pass. Dinner, overnight on board.
 
Day 4: Cranbrook; Golden
Cross continental divide to Fort Steele, B.C. Visit Canadian Museum of Rail Travel at Cranbrook, inspiring even if you don't have an interest in trains and especially so if you do! Continue north through Columbia Valley. Arrive Golden for sunset dinner at 7,700 feet in Kicking Horse Resort’s Eagle Eye Restaurant, overlooking Rockies. Overnight on board.
 

Day 5: Lake Louise area
Enjoy views from open-air vestibule as RCP climbs through Kicking Horse Pass, whose 1909-vintage "Spiral Tunnels” are one of world’s most ingenious railway engineering feats. Arrive Lake Louise and disembark for sightseeing. Dinner, overnight on the train.

 
Day 6: Banff
Full train day through Bow Valley to Banff, with views of towering mountains: Victoria, Temple, Castle, Rundle. Today there will be choices: sightseeing in Banff, just staying on the train or taking a helicopter ride over the Rockies ($200 additional per person). Free time at Fairmont Banff Springs Hotel, "Castle of the Rockies.” Dinner on board. Overnight Palliser Hotell.
 
Day 7: Calgary
After your included breakfast today, transfer included to train station or airport.
