Day to Day Itinerary

Day 1
The journey begins at Ueno Station in Tokyo, where guests are warmly welcomed aboard Train Suite Shiki-Shima. As the train departs, lunch is served, featuring elegant Chinese-style dishes crafted by Chef Ryosuke Tamura of itsuka. In the afternoon, the train arrives at Mizusawa in Iwate Prefecture, where travelers visit the historic Oigen Foundry in Oshu, famed for its Nambu ironware that has been handcrafted for centuries. Afterward, dinner is enjoyed off the train in Kitakami, with menus prepared by renowned chefs Shinya Onodera (Tokiyo Jisetsu) or Katuhiro Hatakeyama (Wakana Kitakami). Guests return to the comfort of Shiki-Shima for their first overnight stay.

Day 2
The morning begins with breakfast on board as the train makes its way north into Aomori Prefecture. Here, passengers transfer to the nostalgic Stove Train of the Tsugaru Railway, a delightful winter ride complete with potbelly stoves and seasonal treats. Lunch is served in Hirosaki, showcasing local flavors prepared by Chef Hayato Narita of Waryouri Nakasan. In the afternoon, guests visit workshops in the Hirosaki Museum of Contemporary Art, where they can appreciate traditional crafts such as Wanimokko woodwork and BUNACO wood-bending. As evening sets in, travelers return to the train for a refined French dinner prepared by Shiki-Shima’s executive chef, Takuya Saito, followed by another peaceful night on board.

Day 3
On the final morning, the train arrives in Shiogama, Miyagi Prefecture. Here, breakfast is enjoyed at the French restaurant Chez Nous, known for its seafood-rich dishes that highlight the bounty of the Sanriku coast. Guests then explore the Shiogama Fish Park, an active hub of fresh seafood markets. Back on board, the highlight of the journey unfolds as three master sushi chefs from Shiogama prepare an exquisite sushi lunch using the freshest local catches. By late afternoon, the train returns to Ueno Station, where a farewell gathering at "Prologue Shiki-Shima” concludes the three-day winter adventure in elegance.
