Day to Day Itinerary
Day 1
The journey begins at Ueno Station in Tokyo, where guests board the luxurious Train Suite Shiki-Shima at 9:10 a.m. As the train glides northward, guests are served a refined Chinese-style lunch prepared by Chef Katsuya Shiraiwa of BAIYAN. In the afternoon, the train arrives at Niitsu Station in Niigata, where travelers disembark to visit the historic Niigata Saito Villa, a cultural property built in 1918 that beautifully showcases traditional Japanese architecture and landscaped gardens. After an enriching exploration, the train departs Niitsu around 5:30 p.m., and guests return to the comfort of Shiki-Shima for an elegant dinner, followed by a restful overnight stay on board.
Day 2
The morning begins with breakfast on the train as it makes its way into Yamanashi Prefecture, a region celebrated for its vineyards and scenic landscapes. Guests are invited to visit one of Katsunuma’s renowned wineries, such as Katsunuma Winery or Marufuji Winery, where they can explore the process of Japanese winemaking and enjoy tastings of the region’s signature wines. Following this cultural and culinary experience, lunch featuring seasonal Yamanashi ingredients is served on board as the train makes its return journey. By afternoon, the train arrives back at Ueno Station, bringing the two-day Yamanashi journey to a graceful close.
