Introduction / History
The Trans-Siberian Express is a leisurely two week journey, spanning 2 continents making it the Journey of a Lifetime. Few other journeys enable the passenger to relax so completely during their course, and to rejuvenate themselves in the rhythm of the journey. This classic 15-day journey spans two continents and seven time zones. Undoubtedly, the world’s greatest railway journey, the Trans-Siberian Railway runs from Moscow over the Urals, across the exceptional Russian steppes and alongside the shores of the world’s largest freshwater lake. There is simply no better way to see the vastness of Siberia as you travel from Vladivostok to Moscow or reverse.
The train has 12 new fully en-suite sleeping cars featuring state of the art amenities as well as an array of luxurious public cars for dining and relaxing.
Accommodation
Gold Class
Gold Class cabins have everything from power showers and underfloor heating to a DVD/CD player, LCD screen, wardrobe space and individual air conditioning - and at 77sq ft (7 sq m) are considered to be among the largest rail cabins in the world. The bathrooms are fully en-suite and contain a separate shower cubicle. The lower bed is double-bed width; the upper bed is a twin which folds up into comfortable seating during the day.
Silver Class
Silver cabins are more compact at 60sq ft (5.5 sq m) and have facilities similar to the Gold Class with a fully en-suite wet room. The Silver en-suite is in a 'wet room' style i.e. the shower is within the bathroom but not in a separate shower cubicle. Features include DVD/CD player, audio system, individual air conditioning, recessed lighting and wardrobe. There is a small double bed lower berth and upper twin-sized berth. Silver Class cars have six compartments each.
Imperial Suite
The Imperial suite is the most lavish and large compartment on the train and is a new feature on the train. The Suite has a fixed king-sized bed, a dedicated sitting area with dressing table, large en-suite shower, under-floor heating, individual air-conditioning, wardrobe, DVD/CD player, and two large picture windows. A dedicated butler, and in-cabin dining is available to Imperial Suite guests.
Dining / Lounge
A particular delight of the Golden Eagle is two charmingly appointed restaurant cars, the venue for chefs to serve tastefully-prepared meals using only the supreme local ingredients. Be it the world-renowned 'Borsch', caviar or Omul - a fish unique to Lake Baikal - they offer a gastronomic experience representing the very best of Russia.
Meals are complemented by wines from around the world, as well as - obviously- vodka.
The social center of the train is of course the bar car, a great place to relax and settle into the leisure pace of life on board. Relax in the comfortable surroundings as you watch the world go by and interact with fellow passengers creating memories that will last a lifetime because the bar stays open until the last person leaves.
